The Russian Naval Base, also known as Rossikos, was built amphitheatrically beside a picturesque sheltered bay west of Poros harbour. After the Russo-Turkish War, the island’s protected port served as a supply station for the Russian fleet. Its infrastructure included kitchens where ship’s biscuits were baked and warehouses used for coal and other provisions. In the early 20th century, Greek ambassador Alexandros Tombazis, a native of Poros, proposed that the Russian tsar transfer the base to the Greek Navy. The transfer took place, but the facilities later fell into disuse and ruin. In 1989, the Greek Ministry of Culture declared the surviving remains a protected historical monument because of their architectural and historical importance.

Ο Ρώσικος Ναύσταθμος, γνωστός και ως Ρώσικος, αναπτύχθηκε αμφιθεατρικά δίπλα σε έναν γραφικό και προστατευμένο κόλπο, δυτικά του λιμανιού του Πόρου. Μετά τον Ρωσοτουρκικό Πόλεμο, το ασφαλές λιμάνι του νησιού χρησιμοποιήθηκε ως σταθμός ανεφοδιασμού του ρωσικού στόλου. Οι εγκαταστάσεις περιλάμβαναν μαγειρεία όπου παρασκευάζονταν γαλέτες για τα πλοία και αποθήκες για κάρβουνο και άλλα εφόδια. Στις αρχές του 20ού αιώνα, ο Ποριώτης πρέσβης της Ελλάδας στη Ρωσία Αλέξανδρος Τομπάζης πρότεινε την παραχώρησή του στο Ελληνικό Ναυτικό. Αργότερα οι εγκαταστάσεις εγκαταλείφθηκαν και ερειπώθηκαν. Το 1989, το Υπουργείο Πολιτισμού χαρακτήρισε τα σωζόμενα κατάλοιπα διατηρητέο ιστορικό μνημείο.
