The permanent exhibition "Shells & Sea" is housed on the ground floor of the Hatzopouleios Municipal Library. It was installed and is curated on behalf of the Municipality of Poros by the Department of Historical Geology and Palaeontology of the University of Athens, drawing on the generous donation of the shell collection of the same name by George and Helga Kanellakis. The display is enriched with geological, volcanological and archaeological material, mainly from the wider area of the southern Aegean, granted by the University of Athens, together with a series of scientific photographs of the surrounding seabed. It is a thematic exhibition of museum standard and, according to the official records available, no other exhibition on shells of comparable completeness, scientific quality and wealth of images and information has been presented in Greece to date. Στο ισόγειο της Χατζοπουλείου δημοτικής βιβλιοθήκης στεγάζεται η μόνιμη έκθεση «Κοχύλια & Θάλασσα». Την έκθεση έχει εγκαταστήσει και επιμελείται για λογαριασμό του Δήμου Πόρου το Τμήμα Ιστορικής Γεωλογίας και Παλαιοντολογίας του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών, αξιοποιώντας την ευγενική δωρεά της ομώνυμης συλλογής κοχυλιών του ζεύγους Γιώργου και Χέλγκας Κανελλάκη. Η μουσειακή αυτή έκθεση είναι εμπλουτισμένη και με γεωλογικά, ηφαιστειολογικά και αρχαιολογικά στοιχεία, κυρίως από την ευρύτερη περιοχή του νοτίου Αιγαίου, καθώς και με σειρά από επιστημονικές φωτογραφικές απεικονίσεις των γύρω βυθών. Σύμφωνα με τα υφιστάμενα επίσημα στοιχεία, δεν έχει παρουσιαστεί μέχρι σήμερα στον ελληνικό χώρο άλλη έκθεση για το κοχύλι με ανάλογη πληρότητα, επιστημονική αρτιότητα και πλούτο εικόνων και πληροφοριών.
